Despite receiving record loans, Pak textile exports slump

Despite receiving record amount of loans in fiscal 2016-17, exports from the Pakistani textile and apparel sector have dropped, amid mounting challenges from Asian competitors. Lending to the industry amounted to a record 90 bn in fiscal 2016-17, but exports slumped to $6.151 bn as against $6.545 bn in the previous fiscal. FY17 sales up 12% at Inditex Group

Driven by growth in all worldwide geographic regions where it is present, Spanish apparel marketer Inditex reported a 12 per cent year on year growth in net sales at 23.3 bn euro in the fiscal ending January 31, 2017. Vietnam revises regulation on use of AZO dyes in textiles

The Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has drafted a new regulation on use of AZO dyes and formaldehyde content in textile and apparel products sold in the country. The new regulation stipulates limits and inspection of content of formaldehyde and of aromatic amines derived from AZO colourants in textile and apparel products. Under the new regulation, formaldehyde in textile products for children under 36 months of ages should not exceed 30 mg/kg, in textile products in direct skin contact, the limit is 75 mg/kg, while in textile products without direct skin contact, the limit is 300 mg/kg....
