The proposal of Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation (BTMC), which works under the Ministry, to revive the 13 textile mills under a public-private partnership (PP) initiative which were shutdown 25 years ago due to huge loses, would be placed before the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs recently, according to an official of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. The official said that this would be the largest project for the textile sector with an investment of around Tk 15,200 cr allocated to purchase new machineries, to replace the existing ones, to run these mills. The project will also ensure proper use of 380.47 acres of land allocated for the sector, the land currently has a value of Tk 1,592 cr.
