Durst, manufacturer of advanced digital printing and production technologies, has been represented by sales partners in Southeast Asia for more than two decades and has had a presence there since 2006 in the shape of Durst Image Technology Asia Pte. Ltd., via a branch office in Singapore. The catalyst for founding the branch was the need to servicing the successful Lambda and Theta photo lab systems, followed by the marketing of the Rho Series digital large format printers.
However, increasing segmentation and portfolio expansion toward industrial production technologies prompted Durst to establish Durst Industrial Services Pte. Ltd. in 2013, which also leverages Singapore as a hub to serve the entire Asia-Pacific region in its industry sectors – chief among which is the digital ceramic tile decoration – where Durst leads the global field in the market and technology sectors. Merging the two offices to form a central branch office helps establish a presence commensurate with the growth potential of the region. This change will also see the team of Kong Hian Low, former Managing Director of Durst Image Technology Asia Pte. Ltd. and a photo industry veteran, transferred to Durst Industrial Services Pte. Ltd., headed by Managing Director Rafael Royo. Rafael, from Valencia/Spain, has been working for Durst for four years, which have seen him successfully expand ceramics printing and label printing segments in the region. The qualified ceramic engineer has already – professionally speaking – successfully cut his teeth establishing and managing subsidiaries in Southeast Asia for leading technology companies.
“As our internationalization progresses, the Southeast Asian market will become a key pillar of our business,” says ChristophGamper, Durst Group CEO. “Success depends, of course, on having the right people, and with that in mind, I would like to thank Kong Hian Low for his many years of service. In Singapore, he witnessed and was actively involved in transforming Durst from a photo technology provider to an industrial printing machines manufacturer. It’s now time to pass on the baton – step forward Rafael Royo, who has played a key role in recent years in helping expand our installation base in the region for Gamma ceramic printing systems. He is now tasked with representing Durst’s entire product range, including large format printing, label printing, ceramics printing and textile printing, and helping set up a 24/7 service and support structure.”
