The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) organisedthe Lotus Make-Up India Fashion T Week (LMIFW) Spring Summer 2019 in association with NEXA. The event was held from October 10 to 13, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Almost 120 designers participatedin this larger canvas that celebrated various aspects of fashion – from inclusivity to handlooms and create a new bond with nations like Australia and the embassy of Japan through the medium of fashion. Aneeth Arorawas the opening designer of the Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week in association with NEXA Spring Summer’19. Her label péro showcased on October 10, at an offsite location. Known for a sense of mystery in story lines and reticent demeanour Aneeth, yet again surprised everyone with a poolside show where guests wore shades as part of their dress code.
The other big names at the show this year included: Alpana Neeraj, Amit Aggarwal, Anupama Dayal, Anushree Reddy, Gaurav Gupta, Gauri & Nainika, Nitin Bal Chauhan, Payal Jain, Raghavendra Rathore, Rahul Mishra, Rahul Singh, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rimzim Dadu, Rina Dhaka, Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, Samant Chauhan, Shivan & Narresh, Siddartha Tytler, Siddhartha Bansal, Suneet Verma, Wendell Rodricks etc. to name a few. This year FDCI held a unique grand finale which witnessed a holistic tribute in the form of a ‘Rainbow’ show to mark the historic article 377 judgment by the Supreme Court of India repealing this draconian law. Inclusivity was a recurring theme this year whether it is weight, imperfections, skin colour or the choice and gender of your partner. Around 40 designers from across the country interpreted what they believed best represents this verdict which pays homage to tangible equality and decriminalizes a certain section of humanity.
