According to a report, there are 700,000 power looms, 100,000 embroidery machines, 200 wholesale textile markets. 25,000 manufacturers including 10,000 weavers, 100,000 traders, 500 processing units in the rs. 500-bn synthetic textile hub of Surat.
The textile production of Surat has been growing continuously for last 12 years; one of the main reasons behind the growth is the ability to adapt to changes and the latest trend. It is also necessary to update the technology used at the industry as well as the infrastructure. The current supply and demand factors provide very conducive and favourable business and market environment for the technological investment. In such scenario, there is a big need to the industry to upgrade itself with the latest technological developments taking place worldwide.
That is why for providing these technologies under one roof, and promoting the ‘Brand SURAT’, Surat Embroidery Association (SEA) and The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI) are jointly organizing 2nd edition of SITME 2020 – Surat International Textile & Machinery Expo from 3-5 January, 2020 at Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC).
According to Sandeep Duggal, President, Surat Embroidery Association, “The Surat Embroidery Association has joined hands with South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) to organize this world class exhibition for the Surat industry. The Surat textile industry has just started picking up, so this is the right time to hold this exhibition. This edition, there are around 50 participants, and the show will be spread over in 10,000 sq mtr of area. SITME will present latest technologies developments from world over in embroidery, digital printing and weaving together at one platform.”
Adding to this, Anil Chopra, VP, Surat Embroidery Association said, “It is an exhibition by the industry for the industry. We would like to especially thank South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce for becoming our partner in organising this event. At SITME 2020 we have tried to accommodate maximum number of participants by limiting the space allotment to maximum 200 sq mtr. The space has been offered to the technology suppliers at very minimum cost i.e. 50 percent less than normally charged by any other industry exhibition. The show will witness many new products launches for the first time in Surat.”

The show is fully booked, and became possible only because of the unity of the technology suppliers who came together for a common cause. We have aggressive plans for promoting this show all over Surat and nearby area. This includes advertisements in all trade magazines and newspapers, local radio and TV channels. Besides, hoardings have been placed all over Gujarat and we are also sending direct e-mailers to companies pan India,” said Manohar Teckchandani, Treasurer, Surat Embroidery Association.
