The fashion retail sector of Bangladesh, notwithstanding the promises, is facing a new challenge in terms of cheap external products and foreign clothes that have cast a cloud over its growth prospects.
This is as per reports while underlining the fashion retail sector in the country is facing serious challenges in face of incursion of imported apparel and fabrics even as lack of proper planning, absence of research and development, low design quality, lack of government policy support, amongst others, continue to stymie its growth.
According to report, Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh Founder-President Maheen Khan reportedly claimed that Aarong has set an example that people in Bangladesh want to buy local products as the brand ensures quality of fabrics and design even as Research Director of Centre for Policy Dialogue, Khondaker Golam Moazzem, on his part, reportedly held that a lot of finished clothing come from India and Pakistan through land ports even if half of the goods are not declared in the customs, thereby causing a loss to the Government exchequer.
“We are not copying Indian or Pakistani designs. Our designs are our own creation,” meanwhile reportedly claimed Aarong Fashion Designer Md Roman Hossain.
