Cotton prices stabilizing recently cotton market with the revival of buying interest at the lower level. Many small- and medium-sized spinners actively replenished their stocks at the lower level. Consequently, fairly moderate activity was noted when trading ring closed. However, activity remained restricted as many leading spinners looked for import options.Also the hope of getting substantial export orders in the Heimtextil trade fair which kicked off recently is a driving force behind renewed buying interest. As many as 250 exporters of home textile from Pakistan are reported to be participating in the four-day fair in Frankfurt which ends on Jan 12.
At the Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) spot rates remained unchanged at overnight level. The following deals reported to have changed hands on ready counter were 800 bales, Rahimyar Khan, at Rs. 8,000; 1,000 bales, Sadiqabad, at Rs. 8,000; 800 bales, Yazman, at Rs. 7,600; 600 bales, Khanewal, at Rs. 7,500; 1,000 bales, Bahawalpur, at Rs. 7,450; 800 bales, Alipur, at Rs. 7,300 to Rs. 7,425; 600 bales, Noorpur, at Rs. 7,300; 600 bales, Ghazi Ghat, at Rs. 7,200; 600 bales, Haroonabad, at Rs. 6,800; 600 bales, Kassowal, at Rs. 6,500; and 800 bales, Mianwali, at Rs. 6,400.
According to a leading ginner from Khanpur, though substantial quantity of unsold cotton was still lying with ginners, there is hope that it will be lifted by spinners soon upon their return from the German trade fair which offers bright prospects for Pakistani home textile exports. The world leading cotton markets were also steady as they are eagerly waiting for US Department of Agriculture report on cotton production due on January 12. Similarly, situation on domestic front would also get cleared after the release of cotton production figures on January 15, by the ginner’s body.
