Apparel exports from Turkiye increased by 17.91 percent year-on-year in January-May 2022, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Country’s Ministry of trade. During the first five months of the current year, Turkiye exported apparel worth $8.018 bn, compared to exports of $6.801 bn during the same period of 2021.
Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $4.428 bn in January-May 2022, registering a growth of 14.7 percent over $3.862 bn earned during the same months of the previous year.
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $3.590 bn, showing an increase of 22.2 percent compared to $2.939 bn exports made in January-May 2021.
Meanwhile, Turkiye’s imports of cotton, cotton yarn and cotton textiles (HS chapter 52) increased by a sharp 63.9 percent to $2.223 bn over $1.356 bn in the first five months of 2021.
Turkiye’s total export of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) and non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $18.294 bn during year 2021.
