The Indian Government has extended the implementation of Quality Control Order (QCO) on 100 percent polyester spun grey and white yarn for two and half months. The QCO order will now be implemented from October 05, 2023. It is important to mention that domestic weaving industry was strongly demanded not to implement QCO as there are many teething troubles.
India’s Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued a notification today in this regard. It said that 100 percent polyester spun grey and white yarn (IS 17265:2019) will be implemented from October 05, 2023.
Earlier, it was extended till June 30, 2023. But the government did not issue any notification to extend it further, so it came into effect from July 01, 2023.
While the weaving industry was consistently demanding for the extension, the upstream spinning industry was advocating for implementation of the QCO immediately.
“The central bank provided facilities during Covid. In this crisis, the facilities should be increased rather than reduced,” he stressed.
On the contrary, an official of the central bank said there should be no extension of loan repayment facility to meet the demands of traders as the banks are in a difficult situation themselves.
