Garment makers in Bangladesh have called upon entrepreneurs from India along with other Asian nations to invest in the textile industry based on non-cotton fabric and man-made fibre (MMF) in Bangladesh, as the country is not self-sufficient in the same and needs massive investment in this sector.
This is as per reports, which added the call in this direction was made by the President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Faruque Hassan while addressing the inaugural session of an International Apparel Textile Sourcing Show in the capital Dhaka recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Faruque reportedly maintained there was still 15 percent shortfall in knitted fabrics, and 60 percent in woven fabrics which Bangladesh needs to import while going on to add Bangladesh textile sector still does not have various raw materials like spandex, rayon, viscose, and other man-made fibres. As such there is a huge investment opportunity in this sector, he opined.
