The International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) has published its 45th annual International Textile Machinery Shipment Statistics (ITMSS) report. According to the report; Overflow dyeing deliveries increased by 4% in 2022. The number of shipped stenters in the fabric continuous segment was 1,780 units.
“Singeing Line” Grew from 4 to 22 units
In the “fabrics continuous” segment, the number of shipped stenters decreased by 35% from 2,750 units in 2021 to 1,780 units in 2022. This number includes an estimate for the total number of stenters shipped by companies which have not participated to the ITMF survey to better grasp the global market size for finishing machinery. Participating companies reported a decrease in all other machine categories covered in the report (between 2,5% for “Relax Dryers / Tumblers” and 81% for “Bleaching – Line”), with exception of “Singeing Line” which grew from 4 to 22 units. In the “fabrics discontinuous” segment, the number of shipped “jigger dyeing / beam dyeing” and “air jet dyeing” declined by 35% and 45% to 707 units and 675 units, respectively. In 2022, deliveries in the categories “overflow dyeing” increased by 4% to 1,714 units.
Exports Increased by 27.3% in 2021
The Turkish textile machinery industry exported 955 million dollars in 2021. This means a 27.3% increase in exports compared to the previous year. Approximately 75% of machinery exports were dyeing and finishing machines. Turkey’s largest export markets were Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Russia and India. In 2021, Turkey invested 300 million dollars in dyeing, washing, drying and finishing machines.
The textile finishing machinery sector contributes significantly to the textile industry and economic growth of countries by ensuring the production of high quality machinery. Textile finishing machinery manufacturers develop environmentally friendly machinery / production processes for the dyeing-finishing sector, where water and energy consumption is high. Germany, Italy, Japan and China are among the countries that produce the most finishing machines worldwide. In Turkey, there are more than 600 textile finishing manufactures. Each of the textile finishing factories employs an average of 250 people. The total number of employment in the sector is around 150 thousand people. These textile finishing factories can produce 20-25 tons per day. Finishing machines are mostly produced in Thrace Regions, Bursa, Denizli, Adana and Kahramanmaraş. The dyeing and finishing sector includes a wide range of machines such as dyeing machines, printing machines, stenter machines, calenders, mercerizing machines and more.
