Numero Uno unveils sustainable and eco-friendly denimsIndia’s most loved denim and apparel brand has launched its new collection of sustainable denims, ensuring that your ‘jeans game’ remains as high as ever, while the environment remains protected from any sort of harm. The collection features sustainable denims made using eco-friendly materials and processes that significantly reduce water, energy, & chemical usage, & hence the overall carbon footprint on the environment.

“Our process of making sustainable denims includes using eco-friendly materials and processes that significantly reduce water usage and pollution. Using organic cotton, which requires less water and no harmful pesticides to grow, and using less toxic dyes and treatments, makes these jeans not only better for the environment but also for the workers involved in their production. Besides being sustainable, these denims are designed to last longer and are supremely comfortable for the wearer,” says Ms. Manjula Gandhi, Chief Product Officer, Numero Uno.

Numero Uno is committed to conserving water at each stage of production. From fabric dyeing to finishing,every stage of production is meticulously optimized to ensure efficient water management. The NU plant works with Zero Liquid Discharge technology, operating at 98.5% efficacy in recycling and reusing water.

Additionally, NU is using technology like conveyorized line drying, laser, G2 Ozone, E-Flow and Blue Sign chemicals combined with sustainable laundry processes, thus enabling the brand to conserve water, energy, and chemicals by 55-60%. The brand further aims to increase their efforts in this direction and achieve sustainability goals of 85-90% in the next 4-5 years.

At the NU plant, the brand operates with cutting-edge liquid discharge technology, achieving efficiency in recycling and reusing water. Additionally, Numero Uno’s transition to greener fuel sources like LPG further reinforces its sustainable initiatives. With a steadfast dedication to continuous improvement, the brand aims to ascend towards carbon neutrality within the next 4-5 years, stated Manjula Gandhi.
