The Tamil Nadu government is examining a proposal to establish a textile university in the district of Erode, said S. Muthusamy, Minister for Housing and Urban Development. Establishment of a law college and a turmeric centre is also on the cards for the state government.

The Minister was in the city to perform the ground-breaking ceremony for laying new roads being undertaken at the cost of Rs.10.63 crore at various parts of Erode corporation limit. He said that steps are being taken to establish agriculture college and a law college in the district. “All these were our poll promises and the Chief Minister is working on them”, stated S. Muthusamy.

He also unveiled plans to set-up a bus stand that is spread across 20 acres of land. Further steps are also being taken to establish a stadium at the cost of Rs.35 cr.
