Mukesh Ambani’s company is set to enter the innerwear garment industry through a partnership with the Israeli company Delta Galil. Delta Galil is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of innerwear products. Two companies have established a joint venture with equal ownership & launched their business.
With this collaboration, Reliance will not only design innerwear but also sell its products under global brands with the help of Delta Galil’s expertise. Brands like Jockey and Levi’s may soon face stiff competition as Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance enters the innerwear market. It can also become a disruptor in the garment industry, like it did in case of Jio in the Telecom sector.
Delta Galil holds global licenses with several multinational brands, including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Columbia. It has also recently signed agreements with Adidas and Polo Ralph Lauren. The joint venture, equally owned by both companies, will manufacture innerwear for Reliance’s existing brands and also bring Delta’s global brands like 7 For All Mankind and Necessities to the market.
Delta Galil is one of the world’s largest innerwear manufacturers, working with numerous multinational brands. The company has R&D centers in three countries: specializing in fabric innovation in Israel, socks in Oregon (USA), and bras in China. Delta Galil holds seven registered patents, 12 pending patents, and eight active tech trademarks.
In recent years, Reliance has been expanding its footprint in the innerwear retail and brand segments through acquisitions, including prominent names like Clovia, Zivame, and Amante. These three brands collectively achieved sales exceeding Rs. 2,000 cr in the fiscal year 2023-2024.
According to Wazir Advisors, the innerwear segment in India has grown by over Rs. 61,000 cr from 2013 to 2023. The market is expected to reach Rs. 75,466 cr by 2025. Women’s innerwear and comfort wear constitute 60% of the total market, followed by men’s wear at 30%, with the remaining share belonging to children’s clothing.
