SITEX 2025 Drives innovation in Surat textile industry Surat, known as the textile city of Gujarat, is a hub for the textile industry, with a large portion of its population involved in yarn production, weaving, processing, and embroidery. The city is particularly famous for its synthetic textile products, producing around 30 million meters of raw fabric and 25 million meters of processed fabric daily. Surat’s textile industry is one of the oldest and most extensive in the region, making it a key player in the global fabric market.

With a view to encouraging the trade & industry of the South Gujarat Region and promoting the brand ‘SURAT’ by highlighting the strength of the textile sector of Surat, the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry once again organised the 11th edition of the Surat International Textile Expo 2025 from January 10th to 12th, 2025, at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) with the aim of providing an excellent opportunity to the machinery manufacturers, importers, and dealers of the textile industry to showcase their wide range of products & services. The show provided lucrative business opportunities to expand their business in the existing market.

Paatil, Hon’ble Union Minister, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India; Collector and District Magistrate of Surat Dr. Sourabh Pardhi (IAS) graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Former Chairman of the Standing Committee of Surat Municipal Corporation Paresh Patel was also present on this occasion. Chamber of Commerce President Vijay Mevawala, Vice President Nikhil Madrasi, and Honorary Secretary Nirav Mandlewala were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

Chamber of Commerce President Vijay Mevawala said that the feedback received from the exhibitors was that SITEX 2025 was a super hit. All the exhibitors were able to present their state-of-the-art machinery to the buyers from various states of the country, and they also got new buyers. The exhibitors had one-to-one meetings with genuine buyers from various parts of the country, in which the buyers gave orders for machinery worth more than Rs. 500 crores on the spot.

Union Minister for Water Resources, Government of India, C.R. Paatil, while addressing the textile industrialists, said that the entire textile industry would benefit from the exhibition organised by SGCCI as many new technologies are on display. Textile industrialists would be able to achieve quality production and will reduce the cost of production by using this technology. He further mentioned that the city of Surat would also benefit from the SITEX exhibition organised by the Chamber of Commerce. Industrialists would invest in the new machinery displayed at the exhibition, which would lead to increased employment. Additionally, industrialists would be able to boost textile exports to foreign countries by producing high-quality products using advanced machinery.

A total of 89 exhibitors participated in this exhibition and exhibited advanced textile machinery and ancillaries. A total of 35,049 visitors visited the SITEX Expo during the three days, which greatly benefitted all the exhibitors and the entire textile industry of Surat. Exhibitors received orders for advanced textile machinery worth over Rs 500 crore on the spot, and there is a strong potential for capital investment of over Rs 1500 cr in machinery in the next six months.

Surat MP Mukeshbhai Dalal, former Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways of India Darshanaben Jardosh, and Police Commissioner Anupamsinh Gehlot also visited and got detailed information about the advanced textile machinery made in India under the Make in India campaign as well as European and German technology. Surat Collector and District Magistrate Dr. Saurabh Pardhi congratulated the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the success of the SITEX exhibition for the growth of the entire textile industry. It will help the industry in making value-added fabric.
