Kornit Digital presents Avalanche HD6
Kornit Digital, a global market leader in digital textile printing innovation, announced significant sales successes from its newly introduced Avalanche HD6 product. The company reported it has received orders for systems and upgrades totaling over $5.0 mn dollars.
The Avalanche HD6 is equipped with Kornit’s HD print engine and the NeoPigmentTM Rapid ink, which leads to significant reductions in ink consumption – and therefore cost per print – in comparison to previous Avalanche systems. The HD6 reduces the ink consumption by up to 30 per cent compared to the current “R-Series” version and up to 45 per cent compared to the previous Non R-Series versions of the Avalanche Hexa. The reduced cost per print gives users of Kornit’s HD technology a drastically improved competitive edge against conventional screen printing. It has the potential to further increase the adoption and market share of advanced digital printing technologies in the dynamic and growing market of textile mass customisation. As an additional benefit, the HD technology produces a refined hand feel of the printed textile equivalent to screen printing – an additional important characteristic when replacing traditional textile printing.
Multiple Kornit customers have now completed their evaluation of the new system generation, confirming the cost per print savings and print quality improvements. As a result, Kornit has received orders from several customers for the new Avalanche HD6 systems as well as upgrades of existing Avalanches. The company reported that orders to date are for a total of over $5.0 mn dollars, which is expected to benefit first quarter results.
Gilad Yron, Kornit Digital’s Executive Vice President of Global Business comments, “We are exceptionally pleased by the speed and significance of the adoption of our latest innovation. We have seen an immediate and clear interest from screen printers in the HD technology, and we see this interest translating into a solid business pipeline at an amazing pace. Looking ahead to the year, we are optimistic to be able to continue the trend of selling new HD systems as well as upgrades for existing Avalanches – the Avalanche platform represents our high productivity product segment, and globally we are looking at a three-digit number of systems that are suitable for upgrading.”

As a Gold Sponsor, Aleph exhibited their latest developments in technology at FESPA Global Print Expo 2018. Aleph develops and produces technologically advanced products for all printing processes and focuses on international market trends.
Aleph’s Board Member, Alessandro Floridia says “you can’t stop the migration to digital. The innovation improvement process is moving in this direction and it can’t be stopped.” Due to Aleph’s ability to continuously evolve depending on market dynamics they have become one of the most significant printer manufacturers in the world.
The LaForte Studio Paper 340 was presented at FESPA 2018. This machine has been specifically designed to meet the need for an effective solution for sublimation paper on wide formats. Since the price of transfer paper has decreased and its popularity has increased, customers now find that transfer printing is more effective than direct printing. The LaForte Studio Paper 340 guarantees the highest quality featuring lighter and cheaper paper. It reaches a speed of up to 600 sqm/hr and features a patented rotary belt with an air vacuum system.
There are several reasons that support the effectiveness of transfer printing. Transfer printing uses 20 per cent to 30 per cent less ink at no additional costs, printing is consistently on the same media, it is possible to print on a wide range of textiles and colours are more vivid and there is no risk of ink rubbing off.
Epson presents Monna Lisa EvoTre 16 printer
Epson and its subsidiaries, For.Tex and F.lli Robustelli, displayed the new Monna Lisa EvoTre 16 printer at FESPA 2018 expo. The digital printer was designed by the engineering company F.lli Robustelli and boasts the latest innovative and exclusive proprietary printing technology, Epson Precision Core which is considered the standard for high-quality digital printing in the industrial textile sector.
The new Monna Lisa EvoTre on-show had 16 heads, with eight colours and the ability to use acid, reactive, disperse and pigment inks. It is extremely versatile and can adapt to a continually evolving market such as textiles. Monna Lisa EvoTre 16 is available in three different print heights (180-220-320 cm) and meets the needs of a market which requires high print quality but not high productivity – instead, it focuses on products of excellence.
At FESPA 2018, Monna Lisa EvoTre 16 demonstrated pigment printing, an application which is strongly growing. This is due to its economic and environmentally friendly benefits, since it does not require steaming and washing as post-treatment phases.
Thanks to the optimised updating and maintenance protocols developed by F.lliRobustelli’s engineering team, the non-replacement of the Monna Lisa structural parts results in a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions compared to an alternative and more invasive revamping cycle. This reduction can be qualified as an indirect environmental benefit.

Light Diffusing Ink
Light Diffusing Ink is a product for screen printing on optically transparent glass, PC and PMMA panels that is visible only through a dedicated LED illumination: The printed image is in fact invisible in natural/artificial light condition or without any lighting, turning coloured only when the LED source, located at the edges of the transparent substrate, is switched on. The final effect is therefore that of a “light ink” capable of spreading the light of the LEDs, whatever colour it is, resulting in graphics with a strong visual impact. The potential of this product and its practical applications are numerous and particularly interesting in the Signage and Habitat Industries.

Huntsman unveils TERATOP® XKS HL inks for colour-fast technical textiles
Huntsman Textile Effects is the leading global provider of high quality dyes, chemicals and digital inks to the textile and related industries. It uses cutting edge technology to develop solutions and create innovative products with intelligent effects such as durable water repellents, colour fastness, sun protection or state-of-the-art dyes which reduce water and energy consumption.
TERATOP® XKS HL inks for colour-fast technical textiles
It has introduced a new range of disperse inks that deliver outstanding light- and weather-fastness for digital printing of polyester fibres. TERATOP® XKS HL inks are designed to help mills produce technical textiles with the highest colour-fastness performance for the automotive, outdoor furnishings and home textiles industries. Materials used in automotive interiors, outdoor furnishings and other demanding environments have to resist fading, yellowing or other colour change when exposed to light and high temperature. While digital printing is ideal for producing highly patterned and vivid high-value textiles in an environmentally sound way, current digital ink technologies do not meet the industry’s weathering and sunlight-fastness demands. This is particularly true in the auto sector, where upholstery, seatbelt webbing and carpets are often subject to intense sunlight and temperatures.
“Colour-fastness to light and heat are the critical success factors for technical textiles. TERATOP® XKS HL is the only ink range available in the market for industrial digital printing that meets the high lightfastness standards set by the automotive industry,” said Michael Mordente, Director, Digital Inks for Huntsman Textile Effects. “This innovation from Huntsman helps mills improve their existing auto and outdoor products or move into this high-value segment of the market.” The TERATOP® XKS HL inks are first-in-class disperse inks capable of printing on technical textiles that require extremely high colourfastness and tone-on-tone colour fading. Mills can achieve the deepest black shades and a wide spectrum of colours, with metamerism consistency to meet the needs of customers and end-consumers.
In addition to helping mills produce high-value textiles, the inks also help improve mill competitiveness. Formulated for Kyocera print head technology, TERATOP® XKS HL inks offer excellent reliability, runnability and reproducibility. Mills benefit from faster production, minimal ink consumption, less wastage and reduced equipment maintenance. This helps them maximize their productivity while reducing the cost of digital printing. Automotive industry experts from Huntsman provide training, testing and technical support to mills using the TERATOP® XKS HL inks. Based on high-energy Huntsman dyes, patented chemistry and blends, the new inks are fully compatible with Huntsman’s UV FAST range of UVabsorbers, which help improve light-fastness, fibre stability and finishing products.

It’s suitable for a wide range of fabrics printed using reactive and acid ink chemistries on the most popular textile inkjet printers.
Even if powerful and highly-efficient, easySTEAM doesn’t work under pressure and it stands out for its ease-of-use and easy integration within existing workflows, even if operated by inexperienced employees. When installed at digital printing plants and service shops, easySTEAM uses the steam produced by its own steam generator, powered by the electrical system. The water utilised in the steaming cycle is regular tap water. The entire steaming cycle, regulated by an automatic timer and steaming pre-sets, ensures excellent results, stability of printed fabrics and unattended production except for loading and unloading operation.
Gerber Technology presents Pattern Design & Marking Software and conveyorized cutting systems
Gerber Technology delivers industry-leading software and automation solutions that help apparel and industrial customers improve their manufacturing and design processes and more effectively manage and connect the supply chain, from product development and production to retail and the end customer.
Keys to Faster Production Workflow for Digital Printing
Keeping Art/Image Placement within AccuMark® Pattern Design and Marking Software
Clearly, the best approach for apparel designers and production staff working with digital printing technologies is to keep the process of image-pattern placement “seamlessly digital.” Certainly, this means eliminating printed or pinned cloth and pattern samples, but it also means keeping this process entirely within the pattern design and marking system to avoid extra time delays and work steps in finalising nested patterns prior to the digital textile printing job.
Fortunately, the latest version of pattern design and marking software for apparel production, such as AccuMark V11 from Gerber Technology, now provides integrated image placement and positioning within and alongside all of the main features provided in these apparel production systems.
Original art, pattern, or image designs to be printed on the garment are imported directly to Gerber Technology’s AccuMark as standard image files (JPG, BMP, and PNG) files, and can then be placed, positioned, and cropped in a pattern or in nested patterns within AccuMark. The design image file is placed on the base size pattern and can then be automatically re-sized and adjusted for each graded size. At this point the individual pattern pieces are positioned and marked onto the fabric, making use of all of the production-enhancing features of an automated marking system for apparel manufacturing, optimizing pattern placement to minimise material waste and maximise savings on cut material costs.
This process of digital pattern image placement is not only limited to digital printing applications: It can also be used on fabrics which have been printed or woven by conventional means, to precisely position fabric on patterns and insure that key image elements of the fabric, such as decorative borders or other major design elements, can be specified and positioned exactly on patterns to achieve the desired look in the final clothing design.
Is Your Production Workflow Ready for Digital Printing and Image Placement?
Using a streamlined approach to image-pattern placement, apparel production professionals save time and eliminate unwanted steps in their production workflows, and gain the fullest advantage from using digital printing in their apparel manufacturing and marketing operations. To get your production workflow ready for digital printing, and to get the most from the promise of the exciting new designs and faster timeto- market now possible with this technology, make sure the functionality of your pattern design and marking system is up to the task of streamlining your workflow and reducing your design and production schedules.
GERBER TECHNOLOGY Contour Vision
The Contour Vision system is an option on GERBER cutter® Z1 conveyorized cutting systems. It is comprised of intelligent software, a colour scanner and a LED (lightemitting diode) bar. The scanner captures an image of the custom-printed pattern/ image and sends it directly to the Contour Vision software. Image processing is extremely fast and cutting begins immediately with no need to create timeconsuming cut files. By automating the cutting process and eliminating the need for cut files, the system enables you to reduce labour costs.
The Contour Vision system is highly accurate so material is never wasted. It calibrates automatically to compensate for misaligned patterns and bow/skew in the material. It captures all patterns if the scanner is able to detect a contrast between the edge of the pattern and the material being cut. The user can easily add negative or positive offsets to the detected border. The software also detects notches automatically. For example, it will automatically detect a v-notch and will add the notch to the cut.
