Bengaluru, a city well-known for its IT sector, is one of India’s major centres for the production of silk and clothing, employing over 500,000 people as over 2500 manufacturers and exporters. Bengaluru is now considered, after New Delhi and Mumbai, a key hub for sourcing value-added clothing by international customers. Over Rs. 3,800 crore worth of clothing is produced here, of which 65% is exported and the domestic Indian market consumes the remaining 25%. These days, the majority of the top clothing brands are based in Bengaluru, along with other surrounding areas like Bellary, Belgaum, Shimoga, and Dharwad.
Furthermore, Bengaluru is well-connected to other southern Indian textile manufacturing cities, including Tirupur, Erode, Karur, Salem, and Coimbatore, by both road and rail networks. Over eleven apparel and textile parks have been declared in the last several years, and the Karnataka Government has plans to announce many more in the near future. All this makes Bengaluru an important garment-manufacturing hub in India.
Today, all major apparel manufactures have acknowledged the role of applying innovative techniques to help them remain ahead in today’s competitive markets. As a result, technology suppliers are striving hard to innovate and develop new technologies keeping with demands of the industry.
Looking at this, the 36th edition of the GTE Bengaluru Show, was organized from September 20-22 at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds, was concluded on a very high note and with great visitor attendance. The show received a very good response, and more than 11700 visitors from not only Bangalore and nearby regions but also Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala visited the show. This year we also had a special zone for garment accessories and trimmings (GAT). Many new companies participated and launched their new automation for garment making. We had a very good visitor response, and they found it very useful.”
Further, Ambrish Chopra, Director, added “This edition of the show was bigger in terms of the number of participating brands and overall space compared to our last edition here. The timing of this show was perfect, as garment industry is back on track after elections and so many factories are planning to expand or upgrade their manufacturing facilities. Apart from Bengaluru, we also had visitors from nearby states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telengana, and Andhra.”
The GTE exhibition is now considered the best launchpad for introducing innovations, technology upgrades, new materials, processes, and services for the garment and knitting industries in India. Hence, it is the best platform to introduce new technologies, services, and processes. Also, to build new relationships and business alliances where buyers and sellers interact directly. This is the best place to position and promote your brand.
The next edition of GTE-Garment Technology Expo 2025 will be held from February 12–15, 2025, at India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida, as a co-located event of Bharat Tex 2025, which is a global textile event being organised by Textile Export Promotion Councils (EPCS) and supported by the Ministry of Textiles.
