With fashion and personalised clothing becoming increasingly popular, the garment industry has shifted to the “small orders and quick reorders” model. The tendency for quick responses in garment factories is inevitable. However, problems such as machines stuck, fabrics wrinkled, or needles or threads broken always happened to traditional overlock, especially when working on thick, thin, elastic, hard, and other mixed fabrics. The only way to respond to the new supply chain operation mode is through digitalisation, intelligence, and automation technology. A new generation of overlock machines was an urgent need for this industry. The New Jack “URUS” Intelligent Overlock Machine launched in TirupurAfter its successful launches in China and Vietnam, this revolutionary new generation overlock machine, Urus, was unveiled on 26th July 2024 at the Velan Hotel, Tirupur, the biggest knitwear centre of India. The honourable chief guests at the event were K.M. Subramanian, President, Tirupur Exporters Association, Tirupur, and Chairman, K.M. Knitwear Pvt. Ltd.; R. Balasubramaniam, Managing Director, MKM Group of Companies; N. Thirukkumaran, Chairman, Esstee Exports India Private Limited; V. Elangovan, Managing Director, S.N.Q.S. International Private Limited; and UM.Navamani, Managing Director, Cossmo Tex Group of Companies, Tirupur, with more than 600 customers.

The event started with an Indian traditional lighting ceremony, and Mr. Murali, VIP sales, welcomed the guest and explained about Jack Company. After that, Mr. Pradeep, branch manager in Tamil Nadu, gave a presentation of the Urus machine. He explained about the new technology used in Jack Urus, i.e., the pressure foot transformer and smart rhino feeding. A live demo of Urus was successfully conducted by a car-pulling activity, and the audience was surprised to see the performance of Urus. This activity shows the feeding capacity of URUS and the pulling power of new technology, “Smart Rhino Feeding.”

In the second activity, they had taken 10 layers of denim thick fabric, Coca-Cola cane, elastic fabrics, and thin fabrics to stitch them with 100% accuracy and with zero stitch error, stitch gap error, thread breakage error, and needle break issues. This activity shows the new technology “pressure foot transformer” used in Urus. Different fabrics with uneven surfaces always put the operator in trouble, but pressure foot transformer technology made it so smooth and easy.

The New Jack “URUS” Intelligent Overlock Machine launched in TirupurIn the third activity, a fashion show was organised with models wearing garments made with four different fabrics, like denim, thin fabrics, elastic fabrics, and thick fabrics with Coca-Cola cane stitched on the Urus machine.

This technology further strengthens the empowerment of sewing equipment automation and digitisation for the transformation and upgrading of the garment industry and to solve the difficulties of sewing adaptation caused by different types of fabrics.

Urus is equipped with an industry-leading AI full-speed feeding system, a key technology that enables URUS to break through all joints of the thick fabric, elastic fabric, and denim hard fabric. Even if the thickness of different joints varies by hundreds of times, it can pass smoothly at full speed without slowing down. Plus, it has a ‘super brain’. With a million-level pressure-to-feed ratio model library, the system could perform multimode intelligent detection of fabric thickness changes at a speed of 32,000 times per second. Once the fabric changes slightly, it immediately calculates to generate the best pressing force and feeding force parameters.

After the super brain completes calculating, the two-core technology of the Urus, presser foot transformer, and smart rhino feeding will start to execute commands based on the parameters. Presser Foot Transformer technology refers to the moment when the subtle changes in the fabric are sensed, the pressure transformation speed can be achieved by 0.00006 seconds, and the pressure distribution force can be adjusted immediately according to the different fluctuations of thick stems, thin stems, elastic stems, and hard stems. Smart Rhino feeding technology then accurately outputs the power distribution according to different fabrics, with an accuracy control of 0.01 Nm and a comprehensive torque of up to 9.2 Nm, achieving a perfect match between the pressure distribution force and the delivery force in real time.

The event had many industry leaders, experts, representatives of well-known garment factories, media, and online viewers to explore the opportunities and challenges of the Tirupur garment industry. The event sincerely embarks on a new journey of leading the garment industry towards digital upgrading and sustainable development of green energy.
