Department of Fashion Technology, Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT), Coimbatore recently signed two MoUs with Master Linens Inc; Karur and United MEP Projects and Engineering Services (UMPESL, formerly Voltas Textile Machinery Division).
The MoUs are focused on having more collective efforts by college and industry, to focus more on product development, more exposure to the students in the industry.
The MoU with Master Linens Inc., was signed between Sethu, MD of the company and D. Saravanan, Principal, KCT.
Master Linens Inc., has already absorbed students from Fashion Technology who are undergoing internships in Industrial Engineering and Merchandising as a part of the recruitment.
The partners have jointly established the Knit Design Lab – an industry-sponsored lab which is equipped with ShimaSeiki® Design System (SDS) Apex 4. Training to faculty members (Train the Trainers) has already been initiated and is ongoing now.
As per the MoU with UMPESL, the institution is determined to provide exposure to the students of textile and fashion domains on techniques of digital printing, needle punching, garment cutting, flat knitting, etc., through guest lectures, seminars, certificate courses, etc.
A. Pavendhan, Associate Dean-Textile Cluster-KCT; Priyadarshini R, Head-Incharge – Department of Fashion Technology and faculty members of the Departments were present during the signing of MOUs.
The college offers B.Tech in Fashion Technology, M.Tech in Apparel Technology and Ph. D in Fashion Technology.
