It is important to note that the US’ apparel imports from the Philippines had slipped to $470.692 mn during 2020, a 38.48 percent drop due to COVID-related disruptions. In 2019, the trade was recorded at $764.051 mn, and in 2018 it was $793.293 mn. This shows that the trade had already been experiencing a downward trend before COVID-19.
The Philippines supplied just 0.75 percent of the total apparel imports to the US in the last year. In 2022, the US imported apparel worth $100.278 billion, while its imports from the Philippines were $752.152 million, as per market report. The Philippines ranks 21st among the largest markets from where US imports apparel.
