Foreign investors seeking to invest in industrial parks in Vietnam want infrastructure along with environmental protection. With a rise in focus on circular economy, domestic and foreign firms want eco-industrial parks in the country that can reduce waste and promote sustainable growth. Several such parks now are operating without wastewater treatment plants. Eco-industrial parks would help manufacturers overcome non-tariff barriers after Vietnam joined international trade agreements.
These issues were recently discussed at a conference on ‘Developing eco-industrial parks towards the goal of reducing net emissions to zero’ organised by Mekong ASEAN magazine in Haiphong City, reported.
Vietnam is gradually transforming its development model towards sustainability under the National Green Growth Strategy. Transitioning from traditional industrial parks to eco-industrial parks requires support from many stakeholders, not a decree, it was concluded.
