Milliken brand Westex has launched a new versatile product selection and development app that will enable manufacturers of personal protective equipment (PPE) to input their specifications and find the right fabrics for them.
The new ‘Westex App’ is to be made available on Apple and Android and establishes a convenient marketplace for PPE firms to custom build a flame-resistant/ arc-rated (FR/AR) uniform based on their workforce’s individual safety standard requirements.
“We heard through industry research that the process to select the right personal protective equipment was overwhelming and complicated. A complex system combined with challenges of 2020 brought underscored the immediate need for a better method,” said Michael Langley, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Westex. “Regardless of your industry and the specific needs your team has or the hazards they face, the Westex App matches users with the best FR/AR fabric for their individual needs,” he adds.
Features of the app include the abilities to both searches by standards and fabric characteristics – filters which can help users swiftly identify products that meet their individual brief. What’s more, an interactive ‘uniform builder’ offers the opportunity for key characteristics to be assigned garment by garment, which can either be downloaded to support the development of new apparel, or saved online for future reference.
