The American Eagle casual denim brand was recently introduced in India by Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL), which plans to open 30 exclusive stores in three years and is eyeing a market share of 18-25 per cent in seven years in the mid to premium denim clothing segment. With its first outlet in Delhi, the company’s initial focus will be the top five metros.

ABFRL had entered into a multi-store retail and e-commerce license agreement with American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) Inc. in August last year. Apart from the brand’s aggressive expansion, ABFRL also plans to invest in retailing the AEO merchandise through the brand’s exclusive India website, Sathyajit Radhakrishnan, President – International Business, at ABFRL said.
