In order to provide a boost to the textile and apparel industry in the state, the Assam Cabinet today approved the Textile and Apparel Policy of Assam, 2025. The new policy is expected to create an investor-friendly environment with easy access to raw materials and manpower to support new investments in the textile and apparel sector in the state.
This step is of special significance, coming just before the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit in Guwahati. This was revealed by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma after the cabinet meeting on Sunday. He stated that the cabinet has approved Rs 55.45 crore to augment urban infrastructure in Dibrugarh and Sivasagar districts. For this, a loan from National Housing Bank has been availed. Another decision by the cabinet was a new flyover in Dibrugarh to ease traffic congestion in the city’s Amolapatty Junction on Old NH-37. An amount of Rs 157 crore was approved for this project.
