Beximco – one of the largest vertically-integrated textile manufacturing companies in South Asia – has joined the ZDHC Foundation, which works towards the zero discharge of hazardous chemicals, as a contributor.
Beximco (Bangladesh Export Import Company), a supplier to global fashion companies including Zara owner Inditex, Target, Walmart, C&A, Bestseller, Primark, Marks & Spencer, and PVH, joins ZDHC as a value chain affiliate (VCA) in the textile, apparel, leather and footwear industry.
The company’s activities include the production of both knitted and woven textiles, denim dyeing and printing. Its facilities include one of the largest washing plants in South Asia.
Beximco has long been engaged in the ZDHC Foundation’s Roadmap to Zero programme which has supported the development of its sustainable chemical management practices for raw materials and wastewater.
“By becoming a ZDHC contributor, Beximco will be able to cast a wider engagement in relation to chemical usage and waste management in the global textile industry to ensure sustainable and circular textiles,” said the company’s chief sustainability officer Mohidus Samad Khan.
“For the betterment of the global environment, Beximco would like to get involved with supply chain partners for effective collaboration and partnership.”
