Underlining Bangladesh and India have huge prospect in enhancing bilateral trade, especially in the ready-made garments (RMG) and textile sectors, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has reiterated India continues to be a massive potential market for ‘Made in Bangladesh’ apparels.
“With a growing middle-class population, India is a great potential market for Bangladesh’s apparel exports,” reportedly maintained BGMEA President Faruque Hassan even as he added Bangladesh is also a promising market for man-made fibres, dyes, cotton, chemicals and other raw materials from India.
According to reports, the BGMEA President made the observations during a recent meeting with a delegation of India’s Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) — Chairman of TEXPROCIL Chairman Sunil Patwari led the delegation to discuss challenges and opportunities with the view to pave the way to more trade between the two neighbouring countries — in Dhaka recently.
