The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have urged Kyrgyzstan to increase its apparel import from Bangladesh. At a meeting with Temirbek Erkinov, honorary consul of Kyrgyz Republic in Bangladesh, at the BGMEA office in Dhaka, BGMEA President Siddiqur Rahman discussed scope of bilateral trade between the two countries.

Rahman briefed Erkinov about the “development and prospects of the garment industry in Bangladesh, and urged the Kyrgyz businessmen to import more apparel from Bangladesh,” BGMEA said on its website.

On his part, Erkinov called on Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to invest in various emerging sectors, including apparel industry, in Kyrgyzstan. He said that the Kyrgyz Government will provide land, gas and other infrastructural facilities to Bangladeshi investors. “In case of joint investment, the Kyrgyz government will facilitate easy loan for the Bangladeshi investors who will also be able to take workforce from Bangladesh if they want,” he added. A business delegation of BGMEA is expected to visit Kyrgyzstan in March/April this year.
