China maintained its top position among apparel exporting countries globally last year with a 31.7 percent market share, according to data released by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) recently. It exported apparel worth $182 bn last year.
Bangladesh retained its second position among apparel-exporting nations last year. The country’s share in garment trade rose to 7.9 percent in 2022 from 6.4 percent in 2021.
Bangladesh exported garment items worth $45 bn in 2022, the WTO said in its World Trade Statistical Review 2023.
Vietnam ranked third, grabbing 6.1 percent market share. It shipped products amounting to $35 bn in 2022.
