A delegation comprising textile manufactures from China met with BGMEA President Faruque Hassan to discuss potential areas of collaboration to reap mutual trade benefits in apparel and textile sector.
The visiting team included Xuewu Zhang, Chairman of Board, Hubei Jintian Textile Co. Ltd, Yang Qidong, Senior Engineer, Shanghai Challenges Textile Co. Ltd, and Tinna Zhang, Manager, Reton Outdoor Sports Products (Xiamen) Co. Ltd. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director, R&G 3rd Eye, was also present at the meeting held at BGMEA Complex in Uttara, Dhaka on May 24.
They discussed various trade related issues including current apparel market situation, global trends, challenges, opportunities.
The issue of sharing knowledge and expertise in the apparel and textile industry through collaboration was also discussed in the meeting.
Their discussion also focused on how both sides could work together to identify potential areas of trade and investment and collaborate in making use of the opportunities in textile and apparel sector.
During the meeting, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan highlighted Bangladesh’s focus on increasing manufacturing of non-cotton and high-value apparels where China could support Bangladesh by meeting its growing demand for man-made fibre, dyes, chemicals, textile machinery and other raw materials.
