Epic Group has announced a significant milestone in its pursuit of innovation, sustainability, and growth in the apparel industry with the formation of a new joint venture, SPECTRA, in collaboration with Creative Group. Under the leadership of Epic Group Chairman Ranjan Mahtani and Creative Group Chairman Vijay Agarwal, SPECTRA is set to redefine benchmarks in apparel manufacturing in India, focusing on cutting-edge technology, environmental responsibility, and scalable growth.
The joint venture was formalised following a non-binding memorandum of understanding signed on January 9, 2025, and is now backed by a formal shareholder agreement. The partnership will begin with an initial investment of USD 15 mn, targeting revenue of Rs. 500 cr ($60 mn) in the coming years.
The first initiative under the SPECTRA banner is the development of a state-of-the-art denim and bottoms manufacturing facility, designed with a monthly production capacity of 700,000 units. Once operational, the facility is expected to rank among the largest in India, significantly enhancing the country’s presence in the global denim manufacturing market.
SPECTRA is firmly rooted in a commitment to progress, with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and community development. The joint venture outlines several key priorities as part of its long-term vision:
· Sustainability at the Core: Operations will leverage green energy, ensuring a minimal carbon footprint
· Empowering Communities: It will create 3,000 jobs initially, expanding to 10,000 jobs over time, harnessing the talent and potential of India’s workforce
· Driving Innovation: By introducing advanced manufacturing practices, it aims to set new standards for excellence in the apparel industry
· Long-term Impact: Aspire to build a sustainable future, aligning our work with the interests of the environment and the communities
The joint venture brings together Epic Group’s global manufacturing expertise and Creative Group’s five decades of excellence in textiles. By combining their strengths, the partners aim to deliver enhanced value to customers, partners, and stakeholders while supporting India’s emergence as a global hub for sustainable apparel manufacturing.
Both companies expressed appreciation for the dedicated teams and partners supporting the venture, emphasising that this launch marks only the beginning. Further updates on SPECTRA’s development and expansion are expected as the joint venture continues to grow and evolve.
