GTE Bengaluru edition to have special zone for Fabrics and Garment Accessories & TrimsBengaluru, the city known for its IT industry, is one of the most important silk and garment manufacturing hubs in India with more than 2500 garment manufacturers and exporters, employing more than 5,00,000 workers. Today overseas buyers view Bengaluru as an important location for sourcing of value added garments after New Delhi and Mumbai. Total garment production here is more than Rs.3,800 cr of which 65 percent is exported and rest is consumed by the local Indian market. Today, most of the leading apparel brands have their manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru and nearby districts like Bellary, Belgaum, Shimoga and Dharwad.

Moreover, many textile-manufacturing hubs in Southern India like Tirupur, Erode, Karur, Salem and Coimbatore are also very well connected with Bengaluru through roads and railways. In the past few years, more than 11 apparel and textile parks have been announced, and many more are planned for coming years by the Govt. of Karnataka. All this makes Bengaluru an important garment manufacturing hub in India.

Looking at this Garment Technoloy Expo (GTE) started here in the year 2006. Today GTE Bengaluru edition stands at the threshold of its 36th edition, which will be held from 20–22 September at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds. This is South India’s most comprehensive garment technology expo, showcasing anything and everything related to garment making. It is one of the most trusted brands as far as exhibitions related to garment technology are concerned. The biggest industry show covers all segments of the industry; right from the latest apparel technology to spares parts & consumables; from infrastructure set-up to latest processes & systems; from raw materials to trimmings; from logistics & packaging solutions. It aims to offer a complete sourcing platform for apparel manufacturers with world-class products and services.

GTE Bengaluru edition is held every alternate year and is also growing in stature and reach with each show. Looking at the growing demand from the industry, this edition will have special zone for Fabrics as well as Garment Accessories & Trimmings. In the fabric zone visitors can see live samples and source variety of fabrics in woven and knits in various blends. Similarly in Garment Accessories & Trimming zone, garment manufactures can find all kind of trims and embellishments required for their garments. To encourage this segment, organisers have provided special price with small stalls in multiples of 4 square mtr to facilitate their participation.

Now GTE exhibition is considered the best launchpad for introducing innovations, technology upgrades, new materials, processes and services for the garment and knitting industries in India. According to Ambrish Chopra, Director, “We are coming back to Gayatri Palace Gounds which is in the heart of Bengaluru. The show will be bigger in terms of number of participating brands and overall space compare to our last edition here. Timing of this show is perfect as industry is expected to be back on track after elections and many factories are planning to expand or upgrade their manufacturing facilities. Apart from Bengaluru, we are also inviting companies from nearby States like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telengana and Andhra”.

The show is supported by many Garment Exporters Associations and approved by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. This edition of the show will have more than 250 brands and companies spread over two halls. All leading technology suppliers from all over the world are present and will display their latest technologies. The garment industry will have an opportunity to see live demonstration of the technology and find right solution for sourcing their manufacturing needs.

Having started in 2001 with 87 participants and managing 4700 visitors in Delhi, the show has grown manifold through its journey of 35 editions of consistent patronage. GTE Bengaluru and Ahmedabad editions are held once in every two years whereas GTE Delhi show is held once every year.
