Hindalco to set up Rs. 200 cr apparel units in Odisha
Hindalco Industries Ltd, part of the Aditya Birla Group, will invest Rs 200 crore to set up two apparel manufacturing units in Odisha. The company signed two separate Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with the Odisha government in this regard on Friday at the state’s first-ever textile investment summit, Odisha TEX 2025.

According to reports by The New Indian Express, the apparel units will be set up in Keonjhar and Sambalpur districts, with Rs 100 crore allocated to each location. The initiative is expected to generate at least 2,400 direct employment opportunities, especially for local youth and women. Notably, this will be the third and fourth textile units by Hindalco in Odisha.

Part of larger push under Odisha TEX 2025

Odisha TEX 2025 concluded with a record Rs 7,808 crore worth of investment proposals from 33 companies, including firms like Sportsking, KPR Mill, and Creative Garments. These projects are projected to create over 53,000 jobs across Balangir, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Cuttack, Keonjhar, and Sambalpur.

To support this growth, the state inaugurated six new textile and apparel parks, two advanced footwear parks, and modern hostels for workers. A task force under the Industries Department has been constituted to ensure speedy approvals and ensure the timely implementation of the projects.

Under the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) 2022 and the Odisha Apparel and Technical Textiles Policy, the state has increased monthly employment subsidies, from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 for men and from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 for women.
