Indian exports of textiles and apparel rose marginally by 0.89 percent to $2.77 bn in April 2024 as against $2.75 bn in the same month of the previous year. Of this, textile exports stood at $1.57 bn, up 2.4 percent year on year, while garment exports were down by 1.03 percent to $1.19 bn in the first month of fiscal 2024-25.
Among textile exports, products made from cotton like yarn, fabrics, made-ups, handlooms, etc took the lions share at $946 mn while also growing at 6.65 percent from a year ago month. However, textile exports produced from manmade fibre like yarn, fabrics, made-ups, etc dropped 6.26 percent to $368 mn in the month under review.
