In a statement issued recently Raja M Shanmugham, President welcomed the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s announcement in legislative assembly on organising the International Textile Fair at Codissia Trade Fair Complex, Coimbatore, this year, mainly to encourage and also for the development of textile industry in Tamil Nadu and the government would support Rs. 2 cr for this event.
Shanmugham said, “Tamil Nadu being a major player in entire value chains of textile industry, the International Textile Fair would largely help for the promotion of industry including exports. He further mentioned that textile industry in Tamil Nadu is exporting about Rs. 45,000 cr annually and this fair will help for increasing exports. Textile industry will get all opportunity to showcase their quality products manufactured at desired quality and penetrate new marketer and also get new buyers.” He also thanked Phanindra Reddy, IAS, Secretary, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles & Khadi Department for his unstinted support and efforts for the announcement of International Textile Fair in Coimbatore.
