Two textile parks are set to be established in Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka, within the next three years, with locations in Hiregowja and Cheelanahalli villages. The Department of Commerce and Industries (Textiles) has approved the project under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Hiregowja site, strategically located near the national highway, is well-suited for ready-made textile manufacturing and garment factories.
This initiative is expected to generate around 3,000 direct jobs, particularly benefiting women. Additionally, the development is likely to create indirect employment opportunities as industries begin to establish themselves. Chikkamagaluru city is also anticipated to expand eastward, increasing the area’s value. Meanwhile, the Cheelanahalli park, covering 25 acres, is expected to provide more than 5,000 direct job opportunities.
