Three weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) scheme in Amravati, the Maharashtra State Government has started negotiations with 15 textile companies to establish their units there. These companies include majors like Raymond.
220 hectares have been purchased by the Amravati district administration for the project. Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister, stated during his visit to Amravati that the Government would begin infrastructure projects by signing a contract with the Centre following the conclusion of land acquisition.
“A complete eco-system would be created in this park from cotton to textile to garment. This will lead to massive development in West Vidarbha. It will not only benefit the cotton growers but also provide massive employment to the youth. All the allied industries from ginning to pressing will be set up here.
The remaining land acquisition would be completed in the next two weeks,” he said.
Fadnavis had previously assured the media that the park would bring in over 10,000 cr in investment and produce over three lakh employment, including 15,000 direct jobs. Since becoming the CM in 2014, Fadnavis has been working to turn Amravati into a textile powerhouse and has established a park at Nandgaon Peth.
