The Première Vision Paris trade show has launched its ‘a better way’ sustainable programme for more transparent sourcing, ahead of its July 2023 show opening. Organisers say that over 290 manufacturers have already voluntarily enrolled in the programme which analyses exhibitors’ eco-responsible initiatives and highlights their efforts to buyers and visitors, using pictograms that are displayed directly on the stands.
The visuals displayed on the pictograms aim to qualify an exhibitor’s sustainability in five key areas: social initiatives; production site impacts; traceability; product composition/processes; and product durability/end-of-life.
It has been designed to include exhibitors who do not possess any label or certification by taking a multi-criteria approach, to reflect the entirety of an exhibitor’s performance and respond to visitors’ concerns and issues, according to organisers.
The criteria determined by Première Vision and independent experts are based on a survey system submitted to the exhibitors, as well as labels and certifications selected for their strength on a global scale, including; GOTS, Bluesign, Leather Working Group, Ecolabel, and Global Recycled Standard.
Organisers say that random checks of exhibitors’ declarations will be carried out on a sample equivalent to 10% of participating companies, to verify the accuracy of the answers provided.
Gilles Lasbordes, managing director of Première Vision (PV), said: “A new step has been taken, and we are particularly pleased to support the sector in its environmentally responsible transition with the new PV programme, a better way.
“This initiative, which we’ve been working on for over a year, aims to simplify buyers day-to-day work and help guide them, while decoding and promoting the real advances made by the textile industry and its investments in favour of more sustainable fashion.”
The trade show takes place 4th — 6th July 2023, Parc des Expositions, Paris.
