The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) signed an agreement with Infinity Fabric, recently to develop a new textile factory. The plant will be built on a 2.4-hectare site in the Sokhna industrial zone.
The $15 million project will produce about 6,000 tons of yarn and 15,000 tons of fabric annually. SCZONE said in a statement that the plant is set to begin operations in the third quarter of 2026 and will create around 1,000 direct jobs.
Located near Sokhna Port, the industrial zone offers logistical advantages that help firms connect to global value chains. SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien said the project will strengthen Egypt’s position in the regional textile market by capitalizing on local labor and port infrastructure.
With textile production in Egypt increasingly targeting export markets, the Apparel Export Council aims to quadruple garment exports to $12 billion by 2031, up from $2.81 billion in 2024.
