Shirts and T-shirts were the leading apparel products in India’s total apparel exports during 2022. Trade data revealed that India exported 18.23 percent shirts and 15.32 percent T-shirts, in its total exports valued at $16.659 bn in the same period. Trousers and shorts accounted for 12.19 percent of the total apparel shipment.
India exported shirts worth $3.037 bn (18.23 percent), and T-shirts valued at $2.551 bn (15.32 percent) in 2022. Dresses made up 14.77 percent of total exports, amounting to $2.459 bn, while trousers and shorts were valued at $2.030 bn (12.19 percent). Among the top five export items, other categories ranked at the bottom, with a value of $1.702 bn (10.22 percent), according to market report.
In the list of top ten items, baby wear exports reached $1.322 bn (7.94 percent), nightwear $807.783 mn (4.85 percent), innerwear $683.060 mn (4.10 percent), jerseys $432.409 mn (2.60 percent), and accessories $412.677 mn (2.48 percent).
Cotton apparel dominated the classification of shipments based on material type, comprising 55.81 percent of total exports. Apparel exports made from other materials accounted for 24.71 percent, man-made materials 18.21 percent, wool/animal hair 1.01 percent, and silk 0.26 percent, as per market report.
