Global textile powerhouse China’s apparel exports amounted to $71.423 bn during January-June 2022. Trousers and shorts continue to remain the top apparel export products, accounting for 20.36 percent at $14.542 bn during the period under review. The share of coats, sportswear and suits remained negligible at less than 1 percent each.
The contribution of jerseys was 12.21 percent in China’s total apparel exports which was valued at $8.723 bn in the first half of this year, according to market insight tool TexPro. Jackets and blazers contributed 9.21 percent, dresses 7.92 percent, T-shirts 7.20 percent, accessories 4.83 percent, socks 4.47 percent, shirts 4.33 percent, nightwear 2.42 percent and skirts 2.32 percent out of the total exports. The share of swimwear, babywear and ensemble was less than 2 percent each.
China’s apparel exports remained mostly steady despite the US ban on cotton and cotton products originating from Xinjian region, as per TexPro. The country’s monthly apparel exports were at $18.854 bn in July, $17.328 bn in June, $14.538 bn in May, $10.824 bn in April, $9.719 bn in March and $9.237 bn in February 2022.
