Sportking India is setting up a greenfield spinning plant in Khordha district with an investment of around Rs 1,000 crore. The project is expected to create more than 6,000 direct jobs and commence operations in the third quarter of FY27.
Land for the project has already been secured, while construction work is underway and machinery orders have been placed. The investment will add to Odisha’s textile and apparel manufacturing capacity, with the state offering infrastructure and policy support to attract such projects.
Odisha’s location provides textile manufacturers access to markets across eastern India. Its coastal location and proximity to ports also offer logistical advantages for companies catering to export markets.
The state has developed textile parks at Bhuinpur, Kalibeti and Balianta in Khordha and Ramdaspur in Cuttack. Technical textile parks have also been established in Bhadrak. The parks are aimed at bringing different stages of textile production, including spinning, processing and garment manufacturing, closer together, helping streamline logistics and supply chains.
The state government’s Apparel and Technical Textiles Policy also provides capital and employment-linked incentives to eligible projects, including employment-cost support for eligible workers during the initial years of commercial operations.
