Penn Textile Solutions and Penn Italia have launched EcoInnovation, a new collection of sustainable fabrics made using Roica stretch yarn from Asahi Kasei. EcoInnovation has been developed as part of Penn’s Dreamshape family of textiles using Roica, the world’s first premium stretch yarn that is Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold level for Material Health and Hohenstein Environment Compatibility Certificate approved for breaking down without releasing harmful substances. Dreamshape fabrics are characterized by reinforced edges and sizing that includes several recycled fabric types including tulle, tulle galloons with dreamshape reinforced edge, tricot, dreamshape reinforced gripping edge (great for cycling shorts), stretch satin, polyester tulle and polyester double jersey perfect for laser cutting.

As well as Roica, the collection also uses Reco Nylon from Nurel, a Nylon 6 yarn made from pre-consumer waste. Nurel recycles the discarded nylon material diverting it from the waste stream during the manufacturing process and converts it into Reco Nylon yarn. The fabrics also contain Noyfil’s r-Radyarn, a range of recycled products that use fully recycled polyester yarn and r–Starlight, which is produced as POY by its sister company Noyfil SA in Switzerland. This is a continuous polyester filament derived from post-consumer recycled polymers.

Penn Textile Solutions and Penn Italia’s fabric innovations will also on show at Interfiliere on Roica’s booth where they have been used in the latest lingerie collection from the high-end Cosabella brand. The result is a light camouflage lace effect fabric with Roica Colour Perfect family and Flounce of Tulle with Roica Eco-Smart with reinforced sides, fewer stitches to enhance comfort but with lightness and structure.
