Narendra Modi, the Hon’ble Prime Minister called for a meeting with 11-Textiles Industry delegates from all over India on 26th December 2019 at PM residence to know the plight of Textile industry. After thanking the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Raja M Shanmugham, President, Tiruppur Exporters Association said he is glad to note this is a first time the Hon’ble Prime Minister is interacting with only textile industry representatives to know the ground realities of the industry and it is a really rare occasion to the industry.
He mentioned that the growth, importance and potential of Tirupur Cluster were highlighted and PM was also requested to address the burning issues like Risky Exporter, Impact of BASEL Norms and Refund of pending claims under RoSL and MEIS Schemes. Shanmugham further said the Hon’ble Prime Minister was receptive and advised the delegation to send a brief note on the key issues to be addressed.
