In a recent press release, Shri. Raja M Shanmugham, President of the Tirupur Exporters Association, said that he had made a representation to Shri. M. Ajit Kumar, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), New Delhi to help for receipt of Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) benefits which is pending since 01st January 2021.
Shri. Raja M Shanmugham said though the Government has notified for continuation of Scheme for Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) on Export of Apparel/Garments and Made-ups with same rates on 13th August 2021, the RoSCTL pending claims have not been addressed till today.
He pointed out that Tirupur Knitwear Exports Sector, comprising 95% of the units in MSME category, has got impacted due to second wave of COVID-19 Pandemic and is really struggling to meet out their statutory financial commitments in every month.
He further added that the total Ready-Made Garment (Woven + Knitwear) exports from our country between 1st January 2021 and 31st August 2021 is estimated to be Rs. 75,250 Crores and the RoSCTL pending claim to the Garment sector is in the region of Rs. 3,750 Crores.
Shri. Raja M Shanmugham was hopeful that the ongoing issue would be resolved soon as the Central Government is now having more focus on growth of exports and to achieve the target of US $ 400 Billion in the current financial year.
