More than 200 textile weaving units will be setup in the newly developed Bardoli-II Industrial Estate in Miyawadi village of Bardoli zone of Surat district in Gujarat, according to top officials of the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). Several micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will make investments to the tune of Rs. 200 cr there.

The estate is 48 km from Surat, India’s biggest man-made fabric manufacturing hub. The weaving units will install power looms, jacquard-fitted looms, and rapier looms, according to a report The units will manufacture 2 lakh mtr of fabric daily when fully operational. More than 35 per cent of these units are owned by women and will employ women. The hub is likely to generate direct employment for 5,000.
