The Aditya Birla Group, in collaboration with the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA), hosted a focused seminar titled “Threading Tomorrow – MMCF Innovations in Knitwear for a Sustainable Future” at the Padmashri Dr. A. Sakthivel Auditorium. The seminar aimed to address the growing significance of Man-Made Cellulosic Fibers (MMCF) in the global fashion and textile industry and explore ways to strengthen Tiruppur’s position in this evolving market

The event was attended by senior representatives from both organizations. Representing TEA were N. Thirukkumaran, General Secretary; Arun Ramasamy, Executive Committee Member, C. Elango; and Prem Aggarwal. From the Aditya Birla Group, key attendees included Jyoti Prakash, Joint President, Ramesh Venkatapathy, Senior General Manager, Vaishali Kamble: and Nitesh Agarwal.

In his keynote address, N. Thirukkumaran highlighted the global trend shifting from cotton to MMF, which now accounts for over 65% of global fiber demand. He raised concerns over the challenges faced by Tiruppur exporters in competing with countries like China and Bangladesh due to technological limitations and high processing costs. He urged the Aditya Birla Group to extend technical support and cost-effective solutions to stakeholders across the MMF value chain in Tiruppur.

Responding to this, Jyoti Prakash emphasized Aditya Birla Group’s commitment to working with all players in the value chain, from spinners to brands. He proposed a tripartite partnership involving the Aditya Birla Group, TEA, and the Dyers Association of Tiruppur to bring advanced MMF processing technologies to Tiruppur at optimized costs. He also reaffirmed the growth potential of the MMF market and encouraged regional players to harness these opportunities.

Ramesh Venkitapathy in his address expressed the full cooperation of their office in Tiruppur for the benefit of the Tirupur Export fraternity and the textile value chain.

Vaishali Kamble in her speech informed how every single product in the product range of Aditya Birla group was sustainable and with total transparency and traceability.

Nitesh Agarwal explained all the best practices to be followed in processing of MMCF products. He also listed the common challenges faced in processing MMCF and identified suitable solutions for these challenges.

The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session where participant queries were addressed by the Aditya Birla team. Arun Ramasamy delivered the Vote of Thanks, appreciating the collaborative effort and knowledge-sharing that marked the event.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in empowering Tiruppur’s textile industry to align with global trends and remain competitive through the adoption of sustainable and advanced MMF technologies.
