Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) plans to set-up office in Ahmedabad to boost apparel export from Gujarat and also bring in the required international exposure and opportunities for the industry. As Gujarat is the highest cotton producing State and has a burgeoning textile industry but the exports from the state, especially those for apparels are relatively low.
The council’s office which will be operating out of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) will begin operations in the city by the end of December this year. Shailesh Patwari, President, GCCI said that textile industry experts are of the opinion that the boost in exports will not just open new markets but also help bring in new technology to the State.
