The Board of Directors of Century Textiles and Industries Ltd, a Birla Group company, recently elected Kumar Mangalam Birla as its Chairman with immediate effect. The members met following the demise on July 3 of its previous Chairman industrialist BK Birla, under whose leadership the company diversified into cement, paper and real estate.
From a single plant textile mill in 1951, the company has evolved into a well-diversified conglomerate. “It is an honour for me to Chair a company that was so ably led by my legendary grandfather. His exemplary standards of ethics and his values will serve as an inspiration to us as we carry forward his legacy,” a report from the company quoted Kumar Mangalam Birla as saying.
