Sportswear giant Nike has developed a yoga collection which makes use of a newly developed fabric called Infinalon. The high-performance fabric has been in development for more than two years and is said to provide better stretch than spandex, along with other optimised characteristics expected of activewear.

The new Nike Yoga collection will include leggings, pants, shorts and bodysuits, and select items have not been released, though new pieces are expected to retail in April. With the introduction of Infinalon, Nike brings to market a new high performance fabric innovation said to maximise stretch, softness and breathability. The material is low weight and high density, utilising a fine yarn woven into multiple layers. As such, the brand insists coverage is not a problem – as other high-stretch materials may become translucent as they max out.

With the same amount of force applied, the stretch and recovery of Infinalon is nearly double that of a fabric made from spandex. “Unlike stretch lockout in spandex, Infinalon provides a comfortable and consistent fit through a gentle but non-restrictive compression system that moves with you,” the company insists.
