We are totally astounded by the large flow of buyers at Yarn Expo, which has more than 15400. SGCCI sent invitations to thousands of buyers, which resulted in buyers visiting not just from Surat, but allover India and also foreign countries. Wewould like to thank all exhibitors and buyers for making Yarn Expo 2022 a grand success.
Girdhargopal Mundra, Yarn Expo Chairman
Surat consumes around 80,000 tons of yarn per month, which is why a yarn exhibition was desperately needed. Several exhibitors have informed that the response has been beyond expectations. Which is why, many exhibitors have committed to taking up larger spaces for the next edition. Our other objective was to tackle the slowdown in the industry. I am sure that the Yarn Expo will help the industry get over the slowdown as weavers will now develop newer fabrics from the latest generation of yarns shown at the Yarn Expo.
Bijal Jariwala, Chairman, Exhibition 2022-23
Following the success of Yarn Expo 2022, SGCCI has already announced dates of the 2023 edition. Nearly all exhibitors in the 2022 exhibition have already committed to participating in 2023, while many have decided to double or even triple their stall space. Seeing the success of this edition, we anticipate that many more yarn manufacturers from all over India will partake in the 2023 edition. SGCCI expects that Yarn Expo 2023 will double in size as well as exhibitor numbers as against the 2022 edition. We look forward to meeting all of you again in 2023.
Exhibitors’ Comments…
We are entirely a polyester company. We have been in this business for more than 3 decades. We are manufacturing DTY – Draw Texturised Yarn, FDY – Fully Drawn Yarn, ATY – Air Textured Yarn, POY – Partially Oriented Yarn, Master Batch and PSF. Apart from the yarn business, we are also producing Warp Knitted Greige Fabric, Circular Knitted Fabric. I think, in India, we have the highest number of circular and warp knitting machines and located in Silvasa. We are Asia’s No. 1 under one roof. We have a capacity of almost 3000 metric tonnes per day and the expansion is ongoing, so let’s say in 2023, a further 1000 tonnes per day will be added.
Bhilosa is proud to have been a part of this rich textile legacy of India, with exports of textured polyesters yarns globally. Over the years, Bhilosa has established a strong culture of excellence resulting in satisfied clients, partners and employees.
We really appreciated this exhibition. We have been associated with the SGCCI for a long time. Last year we didn’t participate because of COVID, but I think we have always exhibited in SGCCI. So, it’s a good platform to meet existing and new buyers and I’m looking forward to good business opportunities. We really get the inside view of the market, new segments and trends. Polyester consumption is growing now in India. We are definitely far behind China, but gradually we are making our own mark. I would say India has a bright future in the polyester segment also.
The Sanathan has a fully integrated manufacturing unit. We have 3 yarn verticals namely Cotton Yarns, Polyester Yarns and Yarns for Technical textiles & Industrial enduse. Our wide product offering of more than 12000+ types of Yarn gives the customer a unique opportunity for all his yarn sourcing needs under one roof.
We have introduced many new products as per the requirements of the customers. Today, consumer is looking for comfortable clothing. We have recently launched a range of stretch yarn for t-shirt, trouser and denim which gives comfort. The requirement of stretch yarn has increased as brands prefer this. Apart from this, we have expanded the color range of Born Dyed Yarn, Every year we introduce new colors as per the trends and requirements of the industry. It is environmentally friendly product.
Surat is the hub of the Indian textile market, It is always good to come to this place and meet the people of that textile industry. Yarn Expo is a important exhibition, it provides us with a platform to interact with customers, conduct business, and demonstrate something new and innovative to the textile industry. Every year I see that Yarn Expo is getting better and Surat Textile Industry is also growing.
For this exhibition, we have done a lot of innovation in polyester. Recently, we have introduced a fibre in polyester, which has a feel like cotton. Apart from this, we have introduced Granite yarn, which we have made by mixing cationic and polyester. It can have many effects on it after the fabric is made. It can be tone-to-tone dyed or cross-dyed, and the feel of it, despite being polyester, comes across as viscose and modal. There are 2 to 3 processors: fibre selection, some treatment mixing, and then setting proper in spinning. The response of all those three products is very good, which we have just launched. We have also given some types of effects in silk which are related to pure silk, and people have liked those too.
Our focus is on all three fibres: viscose, cotton and polyester. We are expanding more in spinning because there is more scope in it in the future, but the development that should have happened in spinning in India has not happened yet. The Indian market is known for new innovations around the world. And our focus is always on new innovations in spinning. And if you are making or bringing something new to this industry, then there is no shortage of work in this industry. So, innovation is the key to the Indian textile industry. I’m pretty sure, The Indian spinning industry will boom in the next 5 years.
The visitor response here is very good; the organisers have worked very hard. I would like to say to the organisers that visitors should also come from outside India so that we can take this exhibition to the world level.
We are traders of yarn for 53 years. We have yarn from many companies, like Welspun, Bhilosa, Reliance etc. We supply polyester yarns, nylon yarns, viscose yarns, recycled polyester yarns, organic yarns, cotton yarn and many more. The weavers of this industry need something new every time. We have come up with many new fancy yarns for this industry, like shrinkage yarn, mechanical stretch yarns, CEY yarns and Sea Island yarn and we have also brought yarn in cotton and viscose, which is also very useful for this market.
We have been participating in Yarn Expo for three years. I have never seen an atmosphere like this exhibition; it has a very positive atmosphere and an encouraging response. In this exhibition, the arrangement and preparations are very good, but this time footfall is less. We got many new customers and good inquiries. Overall, we are very happy to be here. The slogan of our company is “Add Value to Business” and we come to this exhibition to accomplish the same.
The textile markets are a little uncertain right now. Surat is known for textile. According to our survey and data, 3 to 4 lakh meters of fabric are made daily, and if they are made, then they are also sold. There is a good future for recycled yarn. Our Indian manufacturers are investing in machines and expanding their plant capacity. Polyester has a future but apart from manmade fiber, natural fibre is also coming up here.
Our company is a very old and established company. For more than 60 years, we have been in this business. Our company incorporated in 1947, we started as a textiles manufacturer in India. Today, Grasim has evolved into a leading diversified player with leadership presence across many sectors. We are leading global producer of Viscose Staple Fibre and Viscose Filament Yarn, the largest Chlor-Alkali, Advanced Material, Linen Yarn and Fabrics producer in India.
Our effort remains that we introduce something new every time for the industry. And the process that remains is that we take feedback from our customers all the time so that we can get to know what else is needed by the market and the customers. We try to develop something new every two to three months based on customer feedback. Right now we have come up with a lot of variants for our textured yarn. It has a good demand in the market, so we are working on it right now.
If SGCCI has very well organised the exhibition, it is a big step for Surat Textile Industry. Such exhibitions should go on. The exhibitions with support of the government becomes very important as the feedback of the industry is directly known to the government. Overall we are quite happy with the response from this event.
Our company was incorporated on 1994 and since then has grown manifold. The company has been converted from Private Limited to Public Limited in 2011. We deal in value added products, fancy, polyester yarns, recycle polyester yarns. Our company is known in the industry for specialty products with excellent quality. We do not manufacture any commodity products and are completely focused on high margin specialty yarns only.
The Company have the only facility/ specialized technology to tint yarns on texturising machines which enables to distinguish two different yarns which is of immense use to customers. This brings more exclusivity to our product and this also gives us edge over our competitors. Our manufacturing capacity is 100 tonnes per day.
Response of the exhibition is okay but we were expecting more visitors. Exports are down in the market but domestic has recovered a bit. If the domestic market remains strong then all will be well.
Alok Industries Ltd, is an Indian Textile manufacturing company based in Mumbai with integration in both the streams, in cotton as well as polyester value chain. We are pioneer in textile; we are in this field since 22 years. Our main business involves weaving, knitting, processing, home textiles, readymade garments and polyester yarns. We exports 26 percent of its products to over 90 countries in the US, Europe, South America, Asia and Africa.
We are here in the exhibition with some new products every year. As you know, we are one of the largest manufacturers of texturized yarns. However, we do have other products especially in the spun category. This includes 100 percent cotton yarns, 100 percent polyester yarns and now we have also started with cotton and polyester blended yarns. The demand for PC yarns has increased in the past few days, especially in the Surat Market.
Other than that, we have another new development, which is launched now. It is called ‘Suta’. This is the specific name given to a good quality, polymer-based yarn and we have done certain modifications in the raw material itself, which then are converted to a yarn and then to a fabric giving a completely different feel. The product gives a feel of cotton and customer cannot differentiate whether it is cotton or polyester on visual appearance. The response of this yarn was fantastic. They really liked our new product and sample garments. We also received some trial orders. Overall the response in the exhibition is really good. We have got many new customers as well.

Surat’s textile market is a biggest in the synthetic textile. Every person who came to Surat market to do business has grown many folds and has expanded their business to new heights. And all the people who are currently doing business in Surat have progressed in their own way. At this exhibition we are focusing on our latest sustainability products and we are the best in terms of quality and catering such high value clients in recycled yarn. As everybody knows, the price of cotton and silk yarn is increasing, so we have come up with the range of hybrid yarn as its alternative in synthetic. The specialty of this range of yarn is that the customer will feel the same as cotton or silk fabric .
This Yarn Expo is a very good platform organised in Surat by SGCCI. There is no other better platform like this. Through this we are able to show our latest innovations to the textile industry. We got many serious buyers from all over India and abroad. The response from the Yan Expo was very good for us.
